Printing company St Ives Direct has announced the closure of the Westerham Press, which is based in Edenbridge. As some of the reports have mentioned, the Westerham Press was a pioneer of new print technologies from the 1950s to the 1970s.
This loss of more local jobs is bad news for our area. Tellingly, at least one newspaper tipped investors to buy shares in St Ives following the news of this closure (and another in Blackburn), which tells you a lot about late-stage capitalism.
